Moonbow presents an evening of music, poetry, and visual art.
The program begins at 7pm with Michael Peters, Dei Xhrist, more by Michael Peters, and the Arthur Brooks Ensemble V. This event is hosted by Michael Peters and the audience is
encouraged to ask questions and to interact with the artists.
Michael Peters is the author of the sound-imaging poem featured in Vaast Bin (Calamari Press, 2007) and other assorted language art and sound works. As certain as he is uncertain of access to “the real,” he frequently tests and probes that periphery in the guise of a poet, a visual poet, a fictioneer, and a musician in a variety of old and new media.
Dei Xhrist uses glossolalia, vocal drones, jazz, lounge, and belle voce with a graceful stage presence that has been known to evolve in to a physical assault past the fourth wall.
Arthur Brooks Ensemble V
Trumpeter – composer Arthur Brooks is one of the unsung heroes of the new music. In his 40+ year career he has collaborated with such legendary figures as Bill Dixon, Cecil Taylor, Sonny Sharrock, Alan Silva, and Frank Wright. For over 20 years he taught alongside Bill Dixon in the Black Music Division at Bennington College.
Ginger Ertz is a sculptor, working primarily in chenille stems. Her forms are abstract yet organic, pulled out of her subconscious. Her work over the last few years has been to depict the movement of water, evoking waves, splashes, cascades, currents, and whirlpools. She sees this exploration as being not just about the movement of water, but also about the passage of time and change over time.
Moonbow is an arts cooperative devoted to presenting multimedia events. Programming is inspired by each venue’s unique atmosphere and architecture.
